Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation Dispatch Center

Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation Dispatch Center

Due to the need for a secure, safe operations center when disasters occur, the new Central Dispatch Center is constructed as a tornado shelter.  Exterior finishes are brick masonry veneer with prefinished metal roof panels, to match the adjacent existing facility.  Core materials include 12-inch concrete block exterior walls solidly filled with concrete and structural reinforcing, and 8-inch concrete reinforced roof slab.  Primary interior spaces include a spacious planning and observation room, large dispatch computer center with sound-dampening construction, and sizeable fire-rated vault storage.  The facility is designed to be self-sufficient for extended periods of times when natural disasters occur.
