Greene Acres Nursing Home Unit Expansion

Greene Acres Nursing Home Unit Expansion

This project is an 11,600 square foot addition to Greene Acres Nursing Home’s existing 44,000 square feet.  It also includes an update of colors and finishes in the existing facility.  The goal of this project was to create a more residential environment for residents without compromising the staff’s institutional needs.  The addition contains two functions:  First, to accommodate residents with special needs and second, to develop adequate space for an outgrown Physical Therapy program.  A pleasant surprise to the owner, the design and positioning of the addition allowed the creation of a meditation garden with benches and a small walking path. Exterior walls are a combination of vinyl siding and exterior insulated finish system, over wood stud framing.  The roof is standing seam metal panels, with EPDM membrane on connection links, on plywood deck and wood trusses.  Interior finishes are painted gypsum board on partitions and bottom of roof trusses.
