Mid-Delta Health Center is a new 15,000 square-foot facility in Clarendon, Arkansas, and is part of Rural Community Health Centers of Arkansas. The client needed a new, more efficient facility to house operations and health care services. They recognized the opportunity to develop this project in what once was a bustling downtown of Clarendon. This area had become stagnant in growth, with existing buildings in disrepair. Through a federal grant and community support, especially former business owners who donated six existing storefront properties, Mid-Delta was able to pursue a project that would rejuvenate downtown Clarendon and encourage nearby business owners to update and remodel properties. The facility utilizes modern technology and houses primary and specialist healthcare areas, telemedicine, and dental services, and has a community meeting space. It honors the six donated storefront properties on the outside through its materials and appropriate scale with the fabric of the existing downtown, while clerestory windows offer ample daylight into the public spaces inside.
